Picture relocating to Melbourne, Australia—a city celebrated for its lively culture, varied communities, and top-tier lifestyle. Ryo shared his experience with us.

Meet Ryo, a young Japanese man who recently moved to Melbourne seeking new career opportunities. Although he was enthusiastic, Ryo soon realized that his limited English skills were preventing him from fully integrating into the local community and excelling at his job.
Determined to improve, Ryo signed up for the General English course at Level Up Academy. With the help of experienced instructors and interactive lessons, he quickly gained confidence in his speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The course's flexible learning options allowed him to balance his studies with work, making his transition to life in Melbourne smoother.
Why did you decide to come to Melbourne?
I could not study abroad during COVID-19 and also did not have enough money at that time.
But I found out about the working holiday with less budget.
I want to travel around with the money I make here.
I decided to come to Melbourne because I wanted to get support from Japanese staff in a language school.
How do you like studying at Level Up Academy?
It was good because there were almost no Japanese students so I could have more opportunities to use English.
Also, I liked the small distance between the teacher and the students, and I could communicate with my classmates easily because It was a small school.
I wish I could have more mixed nationalities other than Japan and Colombia.
I also wanted to join more excursions and activities.
I didn’t do optional classes but Job support was enough for me.
The Japanese tutor was kind and easy to communicate with. I liked it.
What would you say if you give some advice to future students?
“Don’t worry”
Thinking is good. But not too much.
The experience is the most important.
Most Japanese don’t know what is happening in the world.
Japanese people should get to know more.
